ADVOCACY STATEMENT

As we near the end of the 20th century, it becomes immediately
imperative that the "have-nots" in our society become educated
in the following areas:

It is far from a secret that industrial jobs, once the
mainstay of the typical urban resident's employment
hopes, have been replaced by more efficient solutions:
human, mechanical, technological and distributed.

It is likewise well-known that communities have a greater
chance for stability if its residents access continuuing
education and job skills training, opportunities.

For these reasons, BLACK ISSUES OF BUFFALO has emerged as
urban community technology advocate. To increase the public's
awareness of how technology can assist in the formulation of
possible solutions to the myriad of negative socioeconomic
trends and conditions confronting our less-fortunate citizenry;
and to stimulate self-help among this demographic by involving
the affected residents themselves in the solution-building
process.
